The main activities of ITS Reaktortechnik GmbH are engineering and licensing.
Engineering
ITS Reaktortechnik GmbH has profound know-how in the design of plants using internally cooled reactors and holds a number of patents in this field. The company is licensor for plants using such reactors and executes engineering for the respective equipment.
Internally cooled reactors are applied in selective hydrogenation and oxidation processes, as well as chemical processes where temperature has a big influence on the equilibrium. There efficient temperature control is a very important factor. It helps to increase the selectivity. Subsequently the feedstocks are utilized more efficiently and thus the process gains economy. In parallel less side-reactions increase safety.
Internally cooled reactors are not new in principle. Our company, however improved the technology by applying proprietary compact plate heat exchangers for the temperature control. This type of reactors is in many applications markedly cheaper than conventional tubular reactors. In addition our heat exchangers may be built of modules. This allows to build small reactors as economically as very big reactors which may be assembled on site. Transport dimensions are then not limiting the reactor size.
The idea succeeded. A number of customers technologically leading in their fields are already applying this new type of reactor.
Licensing
ITS Reaktortechnik GmbH is licensor for processes and equipment in the field of reactor technology and sulfur recovery. The majority of our customers are big companies benchmarking technological leadership in their field of activities.
